The home team opened the scoring at the end of the first half thanks to a well-placed shot by Girassi. In the 50th minute, Villarreal remained in the minority – Foyt left the field. Within a minute, Girassi scored a double.
A few minutes later, Adeyemi scored Borussia’s third goal, and Svensson made the final score 4:0 at the end of the game.
After the victory, Borussia has ten points and is in fourth place in the combined table of the Champions League. Villarreal remain at the bottom of the tournament with one point.
In the next round, on December 10, Borussia will host Bude/Glimt at home, while Villarreal will play against Copenhagen.
