After a medical examination conducted by Real Madrid, Thibaut Courtois was diagnosed with a gastrointestinal viral infection. Due to his health, the Belgian will miss the match of the fifth round of the Champions League against Olympiakos, which will take place on November 26 in Piraeus.

Ukrainian goalkeeper Andriy Lunin will take his place in the starting lineup, for whom this will be the first match in the current season of the Champions League.

“After an examination, Thibaut Courtois was diagnosed with a viral gastrointestinal disease. He will not be able to participate in the match in Athens, his condition will be under observation,” the club’s medical service reports.

Lunin was already preparing to play in Real Madrid’s goal, but the away game against Olympiakos will be a difficult test for the Ukrainian. Madrid are looking for a win after three successive defeats in La Liga and the Champions League.

The match is scheduled to start at 22:00 Kyiv time.
