Scotland won a ticket to the 2026 World Cup in a head-to-head battle with Denmark – 4:2.

Before the start of the match, the Scots were on the second step, and they needed to win to qualify for the World Cup. Scott McTominay scored from Ben Doake’s cross.

At the beginning of the second half, the Danes equalized – Rasmus Geilunn, who is experiencing a revival in Napoli after the failure at Manchester United, confidently converted from the penalty spot. A few minutes later, his compatriot Rasmus Christensen set the team up by receiving a second yellow card.

Most of the time, the hosts were able to take the lead again: Lawrence Shankland, who came on as a substitute in the second half, scored in the 78th minute. However, the Scots triumphed for a short time – within three minutes, Denmark in the minority restored parity, stunning Hampden Park. The ball was scored by Patrick Dorga.

It seemed that the guests would be able to keep the score, but the hosts had a different opinion. Kevin Tierney was first on the ball in added time after a mess in Denmark’s penalty area and hit the bottom left corner with a beautiful round shot.

The Scandinavians ran to win back, but instead received another ball: McClean beat the opponent and from the center of the field threw over the goalkeeper, putting a strong point.

Scotland enters the World Cup for the first time in 28 years, Denmark goes to the playoffs.
