The Norwegian national team made a historic ticket to the 2026 World Cup after a crushing away victory over Italy — 4:1 in the final qualifying match.

Forward of the Norwegian national team Erling Holland shared his emotions after the game:

“I’m happy, but I’m more relieved. A lot of pressure and everything, and I feel it. But it’s fun. The support against Italy was fantastic. Now we’ll see a lot of people in Norway celebrating.

We broke barriers and became better individual players. People have really made breakthroughs, like Antonio Noosa and Oscar Bobb, who starts for Manchester City. For such a small country as we are, this is important to realize.

I feel like this is the start of something big. It’s just important to enjoy the moment. 16 goals scored in qualifying? It’s about getting into situations where I can score and I managed to do that twice today. It was absolutely crazy. I’m proud and it’s just fantastic. The fact that we can come here and win 4-1… it shows that we are a bit unpredictable. That’s good for everyone to know,” Holland said.

After the match, the coach of the Norwegian national team commented on the historic preturning to the World Cup. The Norwegians last participated in the World Cup in 1998.
