The German club expressed confidence in the manager, who played a key role in the return to the Bundesliga.
Klaus Costa, FC Hamburg November 15, 2025, 12:33 AM
As noted by the club’s board member for sports matters, Stefan Kunz, Costa made an extremely important contribution to the team’s return to the Bundesliga and to the rapid reconstruction of the squad.
“During the past 18 months, Klaus has demonstrated deep knowledge of the market and a wide range of contacts, as well as being actively involved in the day-to-day work with the team, distinguished by diligence and a team approach. His contribution to the club’s return to the Bundesliga has been decisive, and I am sure that his continuation is the best decision for the club,” Kunz emphasized.
Costa himself, who joined Hamburg in 2019 after a spell at Leverkusen, said he was honored to represent a club of this magnitude.
“Despite the difficulties on the pitch in previous years, we have managed to develop a great sense of team unity. The support of everyone behind the scenes, the close interaction with the coaching staff and the trust of the club’s management have been key to our success,” said Costa.
Klaus Costa started his professional career as a football player in 2003, and after the end of his playing career he moved into the coaching staff and later into club management. Thanks to his work, Hamburg successfully returned to the Bundesliga last season, and the club hopes that further cooperation will help establish the team among the top German clubs.
