Former Wolfsburg manager Paul Simonis can become the head coach of Ajax, it is reported Florian Plettenberg. The technical director of the club, Alex Kruse, has already started negotiations with the 40-year-old Dutchman.

Simonis was on Ajax’s shortlist last summer, but then opted for Wolfsburg, where he spent just four months. Now he is ready to return to the Eredivisie.

After 12 rounds, Ajax is in fourth place with 20 points, 11 points behind the leader. The club needs changes to return to the top.
