“I was very worried before this game. It is very difficult to play against teams that are in the relegation zone, these are the worst games, they are treacherous,” said the Italian specialist after the match.
Maresca gave special thanks to young talent Estevan, who came on as a substitute in the second half and, according to the coach, helped the Blues win.
“When Estevan came out, the energy increased because people love such a player,” Maresca said.
The coach added that although the Brazilian still needs time to adapt and improve his physical form, he has talent and will be in the starting line-up in the future.
Finally, the mentor of the aristocrats reported unpleasant news about Enzo Fernandez. The midfielder is forced to miss the friendly matches of the Argentina national team during the international break.
Fernandez revealed that he has been battling a knee injury (bone swelling) for the past four months, which has worsened. He decided to take advantage of the break to recover. Maresca hopes the captain will be back in action for Chelsea’s next match against Burnley on November 22.
