This loss of points was another blow to the club’s ambitions to impose a fight on PSG for the championship.
After the midweek setback, the Italian specialist issued a scathing statement, calling his players to account. He publicly questioned their suitability for the level of the club.
”We are trying to bring Marseille to a new level. So now we need to understand whether we deserve to be part of this team – whether it’s me or the players,” said De Zerby.
He emphasized that the team needs to decide on its goals and mentality:
“We have to know if we want to compete with PSG or if we just have ups and downs and we don’t deserve to be part of this club,” concluded the coach.
