For the 37-year-old coach of Rayo Vallecano, this award was the first in his professional career. In the voting, he was ahead of such competitors as Xabi Alonso of Real Madrid and Manuel Pellegrini of Betis.
Rayo had a perfect month under Perez, with three wins in three matches against Real Sociedad (1-0), Levante (3-0) and Alaves (1-0). Moreover, the Berlin club became the only La Liga team that did not miss a single goal in October.
After a successful stretch, Rayo Vallecano climbed to seventh place in the standings with 14 points. Iñigo Perez’s team will play their next match on October 29 in the Spanish Cup against Juncos.
