A controversial episode with a penalty in favor of Napoli and a missed shot forced the CAN branch to intervene. Inter expressed displeasure at Gilmour’s foul and referee Mariani awarding a penalty just eight seconds after the incident.
Referee Mariani is currently suspended and can only be involved in matches as a VAR referee, or as a referee in Serie B. His assistants will also miss the upcoming games.
