The Swedish forward, who joined the Gunners in the summer for a considerable fee, failed to score in nine appearances for club and country. However, in yesterday’s Champions League clash against Atletico Madrid, Jokeres scored a brace to help the team to a crushing 4-0 victory.

After the match, Mikel Arteta supported his player, emphasizing his importance to the team, regardless of the goals.

“He makes us a much better team,” Arteta said. “We become much more unpredictable. Jokeres is physically strong, the way he presses the ball and holds it is phenomenal.”

The Arsenal manager noted that Yokeres’ contribution to the team’s performance was never in question, even during the goalless streak.

“He deserved it. It was just a matter of him keeping faith in himself and enjoying the game. Goals are the icing on the cake. I hope Jokeres will now catch the momentum and continue in the same spirit,” added the Spanish specialist.

This victory allowed Arsenal to maintain their perfect start to the ongoing Champions League draw.
