The head coach of the English Nottingham Forest, Ange Postecoglou, spoke about a possible resignation against the background of the unsuccessful results of the “Foresters”. His words are quoted by Sky Sports.

“I think that, from my point of view, I am not suitable as a coach. Not specifically at this club. Just in general.

I’m a failed trainer who was lucky enough to get this job. I know you’re laughing at me, but I can find the text where it says this. Of course, that gives the impression that the coach is under pressure.

There is another story. I came to the Premier League two years ago and managed Tottenham. The president of the team at the time told me: “This club has to win a trophy. We tried to invite winners – Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte. But it didn’t work. We need something else.” It affected me a little, because I consider myself a winner.

I took Tottenham who finished eighth. No European Cups. A huge club that cannot survive even two years without European football. We finished fifth in my first season. And every time Harry Kane scores, I wish he had stayed another year. It would be very appropriate to have him in the team after the fifth place. But somehow that year disappeared from history.

We finished fifth and I got them back into European football, where Tottenham should be. People who have played at that club for a long time told me that the trophy would mean a lot. And that’s normal.

We won the trophy and got rid of the label of losers. The Champions League is an opportunity to buy the best players. But all I heard after being sacked by Tottenham was that I finished 17th last season. If you look at it from the point of view of us finishing 17th, then yes, I’m a failed coach who was lucky to get another chance.

If someone thinks that 17th place is a reflection of me and my coaching, then people are looking at it through the lens – I just don’t fit as a coach.

Now we have reached a point where a different story can be told. Maybe I’m not a failed coach who got lucky enough to get the job, but maybe I’m a coach whose story, given time, always ends the same way. In all my previous clubs, everything ended the same – with a trophy,” Postecoglou said.

Note that under the leadership of Postecoglou, Nottingham Forest did not win any of the six matches played.
