First, Konoplya published a story in which he wrote: “As a person who represents our country and does everything to support it in the war with Russia, I am surprised to hear such accusations against me. I consider myself a patriot of our country and true Ukrainians who will understand where the truth is and where lies. Please check the information provided to you on social networks. Thank you for your attention. I hope for your support and understanding.”
Then Yukhym revised his position and wrote the following: “You are right. I did not put any intentions into my insults. I did not support Russia and its leaders and followers in any way. I am a patriot of my country. I made my conclusions. I sincerely apologize. It will not happen again.”
Earlier, the media reported that Konoplia liked a video showing the closing of the subway doors with the Russian caption: “Russia is not for the weak and slow.” Then he insulted the goals of the former player of the Russian national team Roman Pavlyuchenko, as well as the statements of Volodymyr Zhirinovskyi.
This season, Konoplya played 12 matches in which he scored one goal and provided three assists.
Shakhtar will play its next match against Polissia on October 18.
