Ousmane Dembele, who won the Ballon d’Or on September 22 in Paris, may not receive an automatic salary increase in Paris Saint-Germain, despite a provision in the contract that provides for such a possibility.

This is reported by the French publication L’Équipe. According to the source, the close entourage of the French winger expected the club to review the terms of the deal after the player’s historic achievement. However, PSG are currently showing no willingness to increase the player’s salary, which currently exceeds €1m per month.

In the world of football, contract revision after the Ballon d’Or is a common practice. For example, Real Madrid increased the salaries of Luka Modric and Karim Benzema after winning the vote. But the situation at PSG is different: after the era of Messi, Neymar and Mbappe, the club’s management has changed its financial policy and refuses to pay exorbitant sums to players.

Dembele’s contract, signed in 2023, runs until 2026. After moving from Barcelona for 50 million euros, Ousman gradually became a key figure in the attack of the Parisians. He made 51 appearances last season, scoring 36 goals and providing 15 assists as he helped PSG win the Champions League.

Negotiations with the player’s agent Moussa Sissoko are ongoing, but the management of Paris does not plan to match Dembele’s salary with those once received by Messi or Neymar. The maximum is the revised conditions within the limits of 1.5 million euros per month, which will allow maintaining the salary balance in the team.
