The Sports Arbitration Court in Lausanne decided to reject the Dnipro-1 appeal against his former head coach Igor Yovichevich.

We will remind, Dnipro-1 was strongly opposed to the transition of a specialist to Donetsk miner, when in 2022 a Croatian specialist broke a contract with the club and became a mentor of “Miners”.

The part of the parties had a point where the Dnipro-1 management had the right to unilaterally continue the coach’s contract for one year-until the summer of 2023, but for this purpose the club had to notify the specialist ten days before the end of his current Agreement.

Yovichevich became the head coach of Shakhtar on July 14, 2022, after which Dnipro-1 appealed to FIFA, because he believed that Croat had violated the terms of the contract and had no right to negotiate with the Miners.

Dnipro-1 wanted to get compensation from Yovichevich, but Judge CAS Marco Balmelli decided to reject the appeal of the Ukrainian club.

According to the judge, the deadline in ten days was inappropriate because he did not give the coach enough time to find a new place of work, putting him in a disadvantage. Croat also had every right to negotiate with other clubs after June 30 and should not stay in Dnipro-1, especially given the financial problems of the club.

Thus, Yovichevich came out clean from the water after the situation with the Dnieper-1. He worked in miners for one season, after which he headed Al-Rayod and Ludogorets, who left this summer.
