According to Transfermarkt, Olympic received 13 million euros for 23-year-old Frenchman. The Renne contract with the defender was calculated by the end of June 2029.

Marseille purchased Merlen from his native Nanta in January 2024 for 10 million. On the Centen account, one goal and four assistants in 46 matches for the Olympians.
