“The Lithuanian Football Federation, together with the Latvian and Ukrainian Football Federations, is actively involved in the situation related to the participation of Belarusian athletes in the European Futsal Championship.
Currently, the Lithuanian side is negotiating with our country’s institutions, as state support for a law that prohibits the entry of athletes from this country into the territory of Lithuania is needed.
Negotiations with UEFA are also underway. As soon as the necessary answers, the Lithuanian, Latvian and Ukrainian Federations will announce their decision, which will be very rigid, ” – said the head of the LFF Edgar Stankayvichus.
Also, the head of the Latvian football federation Vadim Lyashenko spoke about the situation with the possible failure to the futsal Euro-2026.
“At the end of present or early next week, we will have a clear solution how everything will happen. There are many uncertainty now. We know that in Latvia we will not be able to organize a match in which Belarus will participate.
We cannot do this from a legal or ethical point of view. Communication is ongoing, and when we have a clear position from UEFA, we will definitely inform the public. ”
It should be noted that the Euro 2026 Futsal will be held in Riga (Latvia) and Kaunas (Lithuania) from January 18 to February 8, 2026.
Earlier, Ukraine reached the Futsal Championship of Europe-2026 ahead of schedule.
