Atalanta head coach Gian Piero Gasperini spoke about his team’s leadership in the Italian Serie A. His words are quoted by Calciomercato.

“It was difficult to predict because we struggled in August, we suffered a few defeats. So to predict an 11-game winning streak and the lead was not easy.

We can’t have any long-term goals right now – that’s probably the beauty of football. This allows us to go the same way as last season, when no one imagined us winning the Europa League. We don’t know that even now — we’re just trying to continue our ascent as long as possible,” Gasperini said.

Atalanta is currently in first place in the standings of the Italian championship, having scored 40 points after 17 rounds played.
