Central defender Gabriel was the author of one of the Gunners’ goals, but the Brazilian could not finish the match with the Lisbon team until the very end – he was replaced in the 84th minute by Jakub Kivior.
Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta explained why he had to make an unplanned substitution for Gabriel.
“Gabriel’s condition? I can’t say for sure right now, but he said he felt some discomfort.
I was going to bring on Raheem Sterling as a substitute, but I couldn’t because we had to make another substitution,” Arteta was quoted as saying Arsenal’s official website.
