It would seem that the national team break has just ended – and in three weeks there will be a huge winter break. And even now it is becoming less and less comfortable to play: the stadiums are falling asleep (and will fall asleep even more) with snow. However, now Ukrainian football players are forced to overcome much bigger problems than the negative temperature – and even against this background, in some places, they demonstrate something outstanding.

Historical record of Palamarchuk

Neither employment in the national team, nor flights, nor the special status of the opponent’s goalkeeper did not prevent Shakhtar from confidently defeating Ingulets. Even before six goals in the goal of Palamaruk, the referee awarded a penalty, but the goalkeeper coped with Sudakov’s shot.

This would not have been of particular importance if the goalkeeper of Ingulets had not previously pulled the shots of Oleksandr Filippov (in the game against Oleksandria), Shota Nonikashvili (LNZ) and Igor Neves (Karpaty). And this is a repetition of the record for the entire history of Ukrainian championships!

I wrote so much about Palamarchuk in one of the previous materials that now it seems more appropriate to remind about the people he caught up with. It:

1) Ihor Shukhovtsev. When the young coach Ilya Blyznyuk forced the goalkeeper, older than himself, to leave Illichivets, he could hardly have assumed that he would find the strength for a second (third? fourth?) youth. Shukhovtsev played for Zorya so well that at the age of 41 he received an invitation to the very rich and ambitious Metalist – albeit as a reserve, but none the less. One of the manifestations of the phenomenal game at the last stage was four penalties in a row: from Andriy Tkachuk (Karpaty), Mladen Bartulovich (Kryvbas), Oleksiy Polyanskyi (Illichivets) and Lucan Burdujan (Chornomorets).

It is noteworthy that after that, the goalkeeper was one penalty short of Vitaly Reva’s record, so 18 penalties were not scored. But before the end of his career, Shukhovtsev still missed the last two shots from the point.

2) Vitaly Postranskyi. It is interesting that it was Postranskyi who replaced Shukhovtsev in Zorya – but he accomplished such a penalty feat much earlier. Vitaly could not prove himself at a high level for a very long time: he spent the beginning of his career in such amateur and semi-amateur teams as Halychyna (Drogobych), Skify-LAZ, Sokil (Lviv), Garai – well, the presence in the Carpathians meant only performances for double But a chance at Worskley at the turn of the century allowed him to stay in the major leagues for almost 15 years.

It is noteworthy that the four penalties that Postranskyi saved were spread over three seasons. Vyacheslav Tereshchenko (Obolon) did not score against him during the 2002/03 season, Sead Salahovich (Kryvbas) and Uros Myloslavlevich (Volyn) – at the end of the 03/04 season, and Georgy Demetradze (Metalurg D) – already in the status of active the best scorer of the championship, but during a disastrous season for himself – 04/05. That Worsley was rarely given a penalty.

Well, the third person out of the three whom Palamarchuk overtook… played in the same match.

3) Dmytro Riznyk. Only three years ago, the current goalkeeper of Shakhtar saved Yuri Batyushin (Metalist 1925), Vyacheslav Churk (Kolos), Artem Dovbyk (Dnipro-1) and Yuri Klimchuk (Rukh). For the sake of fairness, the series of goalkeeper Vorskla at that time was cooler in terms of additional indicators: in addition to the four heroes mentioned above, Riznyk did not allow Serhiychuk from Veres to score. Mykhailo broke through, but this hardly diminishes the merit of Riznyk.

It makes no sense to analyze Shakhtar’s game based on such an open training session. After the game, a reporter told Franjic that this was his third goal for Shakhtar, “just the previous two were in sparring sessions” – and this is the rare case when such strange arithmetic makes sense. I think, even in many bilaterals, Bartol meets a higher level of resistance. The only thing that can be blamed on Shakhtar: it is enough to try to fill Sudak’s price by giving him a penalty. Ingulets is Ingulets, but in the Champions League without this attempt to get extra highlights, there could have been two more points.

However, for Eginaldus, the match became an occasion to crawl on his knees across the field, from goal to goal. As the Brazilian admitted, he thanked God for breaking the goalless streak. Before the double against Ingulets, he last scored in April.

Popov showed the benefit of his presence

In principle, Grandham was able to offer some resistance in this round. Dynamo, of course, also played with a slippery score until the 69th minute, but Chornomorets did not create absolutely anything, and with such a game and 1:0 was a serious advantage. Buyalsky finished off the intrigue with a cool long shot.

And the first goal was scored thanks to Popov’s connection. The Dynamo defender was injured in the “classic”, then his return to the start led to 0:4 – but against Chornomorets he showed why he is ranked higher than all in the hierarchy of Kyiv defenders. His connection to the attack led to an interception, a momentary pass to Buyalsky – and a moment for Vanat, who also did everything he had to.

In a situation where the whole team fights back against you for half a match, even the central defenders have the ability to help the attack. Popov has repeatedly admitted that his favorite defender is Sergio Ramos – and he is just as eager to help his team’s attacks. He was useful in the standards before, and now his benefit is noticeable in the positional game as well.

Veres showed everyone how to play against Alexandria

A draw in Rivne is a result that, according to some schedules, can become a championship. Shakhtar has played 1:1 in Rivne for at least two years in a row, and last season he won the UPL – and even in this, his victory, let’s say, will not be a sensation. But the very details of the game must greatly spoil the mood of Rotan and the company.

Oleksandria was simply torn apart by high pressure throughout the first half. The team, which traditionally likes to possess the ball, simply could not start an attack – it could be said that it was interrupted in mid-sentence by new and new fast attacks. Oleg Shandruk must have serious complaints about his players regarding the implementation, due to which only one goal was scored, and that was from the penalty – but Veres had a huge advantage in the game.

Alexandria, in principle, also showed why it is still in the championship race until the equator of the championship, and it guaranteed itself approximately 99% of European cups. Even in such a difficult match, a goal and a point was brought by Bezerra – a surprisingly cool legionnaire, who surpasses at least half of Shakhtar’s expensive Brazilians. But first of all, in my opinion, this game showed that Alexandria gets lost under high pressing and fast attacks.

Well, the decision to play Dynamo two matches in a row at the beginning of December now looks frankly unsuccessful.

Debut(–i) tour

Cree vbas beat Obolon. The team’s unbeaten streak in the UPL has reached five rounds, the European cup zone is getting closer – and in general, it is clear that Vernydub has returned the team to the level that was there all last season and which disappeared for a few months, when the team had to play on two fronts.

Only success in the match with Obolon was helped by two fantastic personnel shots. Both Volodymyr Makhankov and Yaroslav Shevchenko appeared in the starting line-up of Kryvbas for the first time all season – and played a key role in obtaining the result. Shevchenko played very subtly on the edge of offside and distinguished himself with a goal pass to Tverdokhlib, and Makhankov saved the penalty in a few minutes. With problems, but Kryvbas still gets a result – Vernydub was invited here for this.

Vorskla picked up their first home win in four matches – and scored more in that game than in their previous three games at the Butovsky Stadium combined. It is too early to talk about any kind of recovery: in many respects it is precisely because of the Butovsky Stadium. To the traditionally bad lawn was added the factor of rain, which the drainage, of course, could not cope with. As a result, it was very difficult for LNZ to show their football – and in addition to this, Kucherenko did not save, twice missing clearly not in one hundred percent moments.

At the same time, Kane’s pass for the second goal was pure football aesthetics of the level of Okochi.

Rukh, who broke a nine-game winless streak, reduced the pressure on itself, but to be honest, it looks like an “easy” pass level. Left Bank is more and more confidently “mastering” the role of a team with which one goal is enough to win – and with which you don’t need to do anything at all to take a draw.

813 minutes, nine full matches without a goal is a disaster. All Kyiv’s ideas about creativity and creating moments turned out to be too naive at the level of the top league. The Left Bank is really fighting back, but how much does the Ukrainian Premier League need such a team? What interesting does it demonstrate?

So easily, already in the first half of the debut season, Livy Bereg already jumped to the second place in the top of the longest goalless streaks in the history of Ukrainian championships. The first, also with a fantastic 982 minutes – in the Lviv Carpathians in the 2001/02 season, but this is not quite fair to consider.

In March 2002, Myron Markevich once again left the Carpathians with a scandal, the team under the leadership of Volodymyr Zhuravchak finished the season: an honored veteran of Lviv football, who, with all due respect, did not prove himself as a head coach. The most important thing: even after such 10 matches without goals, the Carpathians fell to only eighth place. In general, that team could afford to screw up the end of the season – of course, you can’t say the same about the Left Bank.

At the same time, the team does not always lose in a row. During these nine games, Kyiv won three zero draws, and with Rukh they could have taken the fourth. In a very dense, competitive game, everything was decided by the decision of the referee, who awarded a penalty. A very difficult, murky moment: Yakymov first played the ball, and then, apparently, it hit Didyk, but it is difficult to imagine how a football player should have played in his place. This is despite the fact that such a team with such a style of play as that of Left Bank is simply not a pity. In the higher league, I would like to see more proactive and interesting teams.

Goal of the tour

It was not easy for the Carpathians to cope with the “bus” of Kolos, but two exceptional actions of the players in one attack helped it. After the pass by Chachua, Bruninho handled the ball with his chest, and with his foot he did not leave Pakholiuk any chance – well, Chachua did not deserve the title “Assist of the Tour” just because you will see him anyway.
