It recently became known that the 27-year-old Uruguayan was disqualified for making a racist joke towards his teammate Son Heung-min. Bentancourt must miss Tottenham’s next seven home games and pay a £100,000 fine.
The club did not dispute the fact that Rodrigo was found guilty, but remained dissatisfied with the punishment. “Spurs” will try to shorten the suspension of the defensive midfielder.
Tottenham will not comment on the situation while the appeal is pending.
Bentancourt now has one goal and one assist in 15 appearances for the London club in all competitions this season.
As part of the 12th round of the Premier League, Ange Postecoglou’s team will visit Manchester City on Saturday, November 23 (start at 19:30).
