The Wimbledon-Newcastle League Cup third round game was postponed due to flooding at the Cherry Red Records Stadium in London. This was reported by the press service of the home team.

“We regret to inform you that the flooding of the Wondle River has flooded our stadium and the surrounding area. The League Cup third round game with Newcastle has been postponed. The stadium is closed until further notice,” Wimbledon Football Club said in a statement.

As a result of heavy rains, the layers of turf on the stadium field were removed, and a sinkhole formed in part of the site, and the stands were also flooded.

The match between the English clubs was supposed to take place on September 24. Now the issue of a new date for the meeting is being decided.
