At the same time, he said that this call was not just a welcome move. There was a telephone conversation in July, and in September – a meeting in New York.
“There was a meeting at which was presented, including, a plan to force Russia to an adequate world perception, where there were points that clearly spoke about those competencies that may be interesting to Trump from a pragmatic point of view and that are invested in his understanding of the foreign policy strategy in relation to Eastern Europe,” said Podolyak.
He added that there are already certain working points that have been discussed at various levels and continue to be discussed. Podolyak noted that Zelensky’s call to Trump after his election victory was not an initial communication. “No, they are already working quite actively with Trump and his entourage. Everything is just starting to take shape today,” the politician said, refusing to reveal any details.
He also said that it is necessary to wait for personnel appointments in the future Trump administration.
“Let’s wait for the formation of the conceptual administration, when it will be clear who is in charge of foreign policy, who is in charge of defense programs, and who is in charge of national security,” said Podolyak.
