Today, let’s look at why a conductor is needed if no one looks at him. It turned out that without him, the musicians would not be able to perform organized.
Why the orchestra needs a conductorThe first conductors were composers who performed their music with the team. You may surprise you, but they were not just leaders. The conductor was often the first violin and signal to his colleagues nods of the head. It happened that such a conductor stood the rhythm with a bow. Over time, everything changed.
Now it is difficult to imagine, but in the 15th century the head of the musicians was without his famous wand. Instead, he had a massive cane-“Battuta”, which the conductor beat in the floor to set a rhythm.

Everything changes in the 19th century. First, the famous wand appears. Secondly, something unprecedented happens. The conductor is separated from the orchestra, ceases to perform music and occupies his famous place – his back to the public and face to musicians.
It is unknown who was this pioneer. It was either Richard Wagner or Hector Berliosis.
It would seem why a conductor is needed if there are notes. However, large orchestras can have hundreds of musicians. In such circumstances, members of the team cannot play and at the same time listen to colleagues, calculate tales and monitor the notes.
The additional function of the conductor is to set a single mood and tempo, because music is not limited to notes. For different interpretations, the same work will sound different.
At rehearsals, the conductor repeatedly passes the score with the team, dismantles them and brings to the sound to the desired result. Experienced experts give new sounds even to those works that have been repeatedly performed to them.
