Vance accepted their victory in the early hours of November 6, 2024, giving a speech in Florida to address the nation. The then-president-elect stated, “I want to thank you. I will not let you down. America’s future will be bigger, better, bolder, richer, safer and stronger than it has ever been before. God bless you and God bless America. Thank you very much. Thank you very much.”

However, not many celebrities were satisfied with the result. Here’s a look at which Hollywood stars considered leaving the country—and which ones actually did.

Eva Longoria

Out of all the celebrities who said they’d do it, Eva Longoria actually left the U.S., dividing her time between Spain and Mexico. She lives in the U.S. part-time. During an interview published on November 13, 2024 with Marie Claire, Eva noted that she made the decision before the 2024 election. However, the results solidified her choice, and she described America as a “dystopian country.”

“I had my whole adult life here. But even before [the pandemic], it was changing,” she told the outlet, adding, “The vibe was different. And then Covid happened, and it pushed it over the edge.”

Eva pointed out that she didn’t want to criticize California, but cited homelessness and high taxes, adding that the real reason she left was because “this chapter in [her] life is done now.”

“I’m privileged,” Eva acknowledged. “I get to escape and go somewhere. Most Americans aren’t so lucky. They’re going to be stuck in this dystopian country, and my anxiety and sadness is for them.”
