This is stated in the material of “Ukrainian Pravda” (UP). UP journalists spent a day with DTEK energy workers, who work 10-14 hours a day, returning light to people.

“In general, we work whenever we want. Sometimes it’s 10, sometimes 14 hours a day. There are many calls, there are many accidents. I only see light at work – I don’t have it at home. The houses across the road can light up. And we can even be in the same group. But now the groups are not active. They give light as and to whom they can,” said DTEK energy engineer Volodymyr.

It is noted that the replacement of the transformer since the beginning of the full-scale invasion was an unusual phenomenon and such works of the power industry were carried out once every few weeks. However, from the beginning of 2026, there may be several such cases per day in Kyiv.

“You don’t think we’re going to give up like that. No. No one will leave here until we start the equipment. We won’t leave people without electricity,” the energy workers emphasize.

We will remind you that last week, Rinat Akhmetov’s DTEK energy workers returned electricity to 1.2 million families whose homes were left without electricity due to enemy shelling.

At the same time, the company announced plans to build energy storage facilities with a total capacity of 200 MW to strengthen Ukraine’s energy security. Investments in the project will amount to 140 million euros.
