The locals offer the authorities to impose restrictions on tourists.

According to Reuters, the inhabitants of Paris Monmartre are alarmed because of the excessive influx of tourists, fearing that their picturesque area on the hill can become the second Barcelona or Venice, as the number of visitors has increased sharply after last year’s Olympic Games.
In particular, Parisian Ann Renodi, who has lived in the area for almost 30 years and heads the Association “Living on Montmartre”, says that the historic quarter, glorified by the movie “Amelie” in 2001, is now reminiscent of the Entertainment Park.
“People come for three hours, have fun, buy a beret or pancake and go – like a park of entertainment,” she told Reuters.
Meanwhile, stores where they sold the main food for locals disappear because they are replaced by diner and souvenir shops.
“We have two or three meat benches, two cheese benches. They disappear one by one. Now there are full points with ice cream, pancakes and tacos,” the woman complained.
In order to somehow remedy the situation, the Association of Local residents suggested that the City Hall of Paris take a number of measures similar to those that are operating in other popular tourist places in Europe: limiting the number of tourist groups to 25 people, banning the use of speakers and raising tourist tax.
In 2024, the number of tourists in the Paris region reached 48.7 million people, in addition, about 11 million annually attended Montmartre, mainly for the sake of photogenic Sacre-Ker’s photogenic basilica. As a result, its narrow paved streets are clogged with tourist groups, which causes irritation to locals.
“Sometimes I have to raise the voice and say,” Sorry, I want to go through, “-complains 44-year-old local resident Anthey Kenel.
For its part, Paris authorities say that 2025 promises to be very tourist: the number of bookings increased by 20% in January compared to the same month last year.
At the same time, Eric Lezhandr, the mayor of the 18th district of Paris, which includes Montmartre, considers the most serious problem for locals growth in housing prices, which can lead to the outflow of locals.
“For me, the main problem is housing. This means the fight against Airbnb and housing rental platforms,” he said.
According to Meillersagents.com, the prices for Montmartre’s real estate has increased by 19% over the last decade. An apartment with an area of 40 square meters near the Terre Square can now cost about 500,000 euros.
To solve this problem, Paris strengthened the rules of short -term lease by reducing the annual limit for renting a main home from 120 to 90 days.

Tourism in FranceAs reported by UNIAN, earlier a number of the most popular museums of France, including the famous Louvre, said plans to sharply raise prices for tickets for non-resident tourists. And this despite the fact that not so long ago Paris was recognized as the best city in the world for connoisseurs of culture and art.
Earlier in the French press an investigation was published, which exposes the restaurants of Paris – they were accused of serving tourists of cheap wine under the guise of expensive.
In turn, travel expert Vinisius Costa, who lived in France for almost five years, told about three little -known fairy -tale medieval cities in a country where you can relax and enjoy life.
