The I Need You hitmaker shared a childhood photo of herself with her father, who is believed to be in his mid-60s, on Instagram on Tuesday with the caption: ‘Love you pops, rest in peace. Forever my father’s daughter.’

Contostavlos was a renowned musician (also known as Plato) in his own right in the 1970s as a keyboardist for the British rock band Mungo Jerry, securing a number one hit, In The Summertime.

His late brother Byron (Dappy’s father) also played bass guitar in the band.

He reportedly also played an influential role in the early days of the formation of hip hop trio N-Dubz.

Married at First Sight’s Paul Brunson shared a heart emoji underneath Tulisa’s post.

Lizzie Cundy added: ‘Thinking of you, so sorry.’

‘Sorry for your loss T. You’re making him proud sending my love,’ _mk251989 shared.

‘Sending so much love and strength your way T,’ deezenetaa99 echoed.

‘Me and my dad’s relationship has not been a conventional one.

‘I would say me and my dad now we’re just more friends that kind of have an understanding of one another,’ she said at the time.

In another interview with Fearne Cotton on her podcast Happy Place, she added: ‘My dad had a little studio in Dollis Hill and he used to bring me there sometimes when he was working. He put me on the mic at the age of five. I was singing Little Mermaid.

Now 36, Tulisa formed the band with Dappy and Fazer at the age of 11, with the band gaining mainstream fame with tunes like You Better Not Waste My Time and Say It’s Over.

In 2012, Contostavlos opened up about Tulisa’s childhood in an interview with the Sunday Mirror.

He talked about the bullying she endured at school after her classmates found out about her mother’s schizophrenia and how she eventually stood up for herself.

Contostavlos said: ‘She went through a lot, that’s why she has become who she is, it made her the success she is. It’s incredible that she has achieved what she has, considering everything. Her childhood was unbelievably tough.’
