The film is called “2000 meters to Andriyivka”, which took place on January 23 in the United States at the Sandence Festival. The film is presented at the festival in the nomination “World Documentary Cinema”. It shows the history of the liberation of the village of Andreevka under Bakhmut and the lives of the Ukrainian military, which protect their territories from the enemy.

According to Mstislav, working on the ribbon demanded new approaches. The director tried to realistically convey all the events and from the first minutes of viewing to capture the viewer.

“Creating” 2000 meters to Andreevka “is an experimental approach. We try to show a modern war as no one did it before or after. Of course, there are elements that are classic for documentary cinema, but I also wanted history to be so so Fascinating, so real, so experimental for the audience that they forget that they watch the documentary. Mstislav in an interview for AR.

Chernov also stressed that everyone should know about history with Avdiivka. Although many media outlets have written about it, the format of cinema, according to the Ukrainian, has fought it for a long time.

“The form of cinema is much more durable than news. Whatever the important journalism is, unfortunately, there are so many events in the world, so many important stories that extraordinary efforts are needed to keep someone’s attention especially if it is important to you personally. And the history of Andreevka and soldiers who try to get there are very important to me. ”

By the way, Mstislav Chernov gained recognition through the documentary “20 days in Mariupol”. He showed the real footage of the Russian siege of the Ukrainian city at the beginning of a full -scale war in 2022. The film received many prestigious awards. Among them are BAFTA, the Guild of the directors of America in the category “outstanding directorial achievements in documentary” and “Oscar”.

We will remind, earlier actress Angelina Jolie did not get this year in the nominees for “Oscar”.
