The first photos of the M1E3 Abrams / US Army photo have appearedThe US Army has published the first photos showing individual design elements of an early prototype of the new Abrams modification, designated M1E3. This is reported by The War Zone.
“We are proud to announce the completion of development of the first early prototype of the M1E3 – a demonstrator of advanced technologies designed to revolutionize the battlefield,” – reports the US Army in turn.
Key features of the tank include “advanced software integration,” “improved mobility,” and “unprecedented firepower.”
The two currently available photos give only a limited idea of the prototype. Probably, one of them shows the view of the tank from the front. The second, apparently, also shows the bow, but at the appropriate angle – along the side.

According to experts, the development is far from final, but its main features are generally clear.
The turret of the tank is very similar to the turrets of the existing M1 modifications, but probably has a slightly lower silhouette. The gun is very similar to the 120mm M256 mounted on other Abrams variants.
It was previously speculated that the latest version of the tank could get a larger caliber gun or a more advanced gun. That possibility still remains for M1E3.
As for the body, its visible elements are significantly different from the existing Abrams versions – regardless of whether the tank is viewed from the front or the rear.
We should also note that the tank is noticeably different from the AbramsX concept. The latter was introduced back in 2022. It was positioned as a transition stage between the M1A2 SEPv3 and SEPv4 to the next generation tank.
