The new complex will be able to launch 24 guided missiles of the GLMRS type.
The Logistic Vehicle System Replacement (LVSR) machine was used as the basis for the new system. Four universal launch cells are installed on it, each of which can carry six 227 mm GMLRS guided rockets. So the total number of missiles is 24 units.
In theory, in addition to GMLRS missiles, two PrSM missiles or a launch container for an ATACMS missile can be placed in one cell.
All of these variants are used for the M142 HIMARS. However, it is not known whether the new system will be able to carry this entire arsenal.
Be that as it may, for now we are talking about an experimental development that has not even received its own name yet. When the system will enter service with the US Army (or if it will come at all) is also not reported.
M142 HIMARS – latest news Last year, it became known about the successful qualification tests of new missiles for the M142 HIMARS and M270 MLRS systems, which were named ER GMLRS. As mentioned, they were tested at different distances, including the maximum range, which should be up to 150 km.
And this year, the United States conducted tests of an unmanned version of HIMARS. It is assumed that it will be able to use the same set of ammunition as the conventional version of the reactive artillery system.
