How to check kefir for naturalnessYou can check kefir at home / UNIAN collage, screenshot TiktokKefir is considered a very useful product – it has a lot of calcium, probiotics, B vitamins and minerals. Due to such a rich composition, the drink improves digestion, strengthens the immune system and is quickly absorbed. However, it is important to know how to check kefir at home to buy a useful product, not a fake.

Earlier we told how to test sour cream for naturalness.

How to check kefir visually, alcohol and iodineThere are several ways to check the kefir for starch. The first option is to examine the drink visually. The consistency of the natural product will always be viscous and slightly viscous, and the smell – moderate dairy. If the drink is too liquid, with divorces, peeling or some strangers, it also smells of sour, therefore, a poor quality product is in front of you. It was added either starch, or vinegar, or both.

The second method is associated with alcohol. You can drip a little disinfecting liquid directly into a glass of yogurt. If you see that the milk protein is folded, then the product is natural. The absence of such a sign will indicate various additives that should not have dairy drinks.

The TikTok social network user under Nutrilla Nutrilla has bought two packs of yogurt for such a dough in the store. She did it after her subscriber asked how to check the yogurt for naturalness. The video author purchased the products of two different manufacturers – “Yagotinsky” and “Fanny” fatty 2.5%. She took two white clean plates and poured a little yogurt on each. Then she dripped from the pipette iodine on each sample. After a few minutes, it became clear that starch was not added to any of the samples – and the kefir of both manufacturers became brown.

However, in order to show how it happens differently, the author of the video poured another yogurt on the third plate – the one she “spoiled” on her own, adding starch to it. As soon as the iodine touched the product, he immediately began to change the color from white to blue. Nutriella said that manufacturers can add less or more starch, but such a blue kefir color always indicates that the unnecessary ingredient in it has, and suggested that the subscribers check the purchased products on their own.
