The Traitors’ Cat Burns’ girlfriend revealed – and pop star’s new song is about her

Ahead of her appearance on The Celebrity Traitors tonight, singer Cat Burns’ girlfriend has been revealed and the pop star’s new song is about her.

The Sun can exclusive reveal that the 25-year-old British songwriter is dating make-up artist Sarah New and it appears that the two are very much in love.

The pair have shared glimpses of their relationship on social mediaCredit: InstagramShe previously teased her relationship with Sarah in a TikTok video in which she can be seen trying to drag someone into the camera frame.

Cat wrote over it: “Live footage of me trying to promote this song while trying to keep my private life private lol.”

Sarah has also posted various pictures and videos of the two of them over the last three months, from taking holidays together to enjoying delicious meals.

In one video uploaded to her Instagram feed, Sarah records Cat as she stands by the side of a stage and watches her perform.

The BBC One star’s newest song Lavender from her upcoming album, How To Be Human, appears to be about the new woman in her life as she gushes about her life having improved.

The lyrics include: “I’ve been sleeping better, doctors say have it every day, sure my mind feels lighter, cause this headache’s gone away.”

She also refers to Sarah as a “remedy” and a “flower laying next to me”, and sings about how much she’s “changed” and “the world can do with a little more of her”.

Fans had flocked to the comments section at the time to share their suspicions as one social media user commented: “We all know it’s Sarah bff x.”

Another eagle-eyed fan said: “If this isn’t @sarahnew I’ll eat my shoes,” and somebody else commented: “It has to be! She has the same set of nails in her latest video too.”

Yet another added: “You two make such a beautiful couple, I’m here for it.”

The Sun have contacted Cat’s representatives for comment.

Cat previously opened up about her sexuality and coming out, and recalled that it happened during lockdown.

She told Attitude back in 2022: “It was the beginning of lockdown, and I was on TikTok, which liked to do a thing back then where it would… tell you you’re gay.

“It would show random videos, and if you interact with it, they’re like, ‘Oh — it seems like you like this stuff…’ I got fed a lot of videos and was like, ‘This makes sense.’”

This led to her coming out to her mum and sister as she told them: “I don’t think I’m straight.”

Cat began her music career back in 2016 but rose to prominence in 2020 with the release of her single, ‘Go’.

The song’s popularity increased in 2022 through TikTok, eventually reaching at number two in the UK singles chart.

She released her debut album, Early Twenties in July last year, with the record charting at number seven in both the UK and Scotland.

Her second album, How to Be Human is all set to be released this month on 31 October.

As well as her blossoming singing career, Cat is also all set to star on The Celebrity Traitors, as one of 19 famous faces taking on the game of lies, deception and manipulation.

The Claudia Winkleman hosted show will see celebrities including Alan Carr, Jonathan Ross, Clare Balding, Stephen Fry and Paloma Faith attempt to win £100,000 for a charity of their own choice.
