Rio de Janeiro has also been named UNESCO World Book Capital for 2025, and Lady Gaga’s free concert on Copacabana Beach is sure to attract an international audience. The article says:

“As for Egypt, the tentative opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum in October 2024, followed by its grand opening in November 2025, is likely to see the country skyrocket up this year’s must-see lists.”

Among the countries that provided data for November, there was growth of 30 percent in Bhutan, 24 percent in Guyana and 19 percent in South Africa.

Overall, 1.52 billion foreign tourists are estimated to have visited the country in 2025, with Europe continuing to be the most popular tourist region in the world, welcoming 793 million visitors.
