Russia attacks non-military passenger infrastructure.
The government noted that there are currently no agreements with partners regarding the financing of the reconstruction of the station in Fastov / photo UNIAN, Dmytro PetrovskyiThe cost of restoring the passenger depot and 27 destroyed electric trains in Fastov after the massive Russian attack is estimated at about 400 million hryvnias, not including the cost of rebuilding the station.
According to the correspondent of UNIAN, this was announced by the Deputy Minister of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine, Oleksiy Balesta, at the site of the mutilated object.
According to him, on the night of December 5 to 6, Russian drones and missiles hit the railway facilities in Fastov. Before that, the transformer substations that fed the city were hit.
“From December 5 to 6, the depot was also hit. Accordingly, about 20 Shaheds hit the depot. There was also a missile hit at the passenger station. Almost all civilian objects of the railway in the city of Fastiv were hit,” Balesta said.
He emphasized that Russia is directly attacking the passenger infrastructure, which is in no way connected with military transportation.
“The aggressor purposefully hit them in order to reduce the mobility of our community and cause mental damage. We have roughly calculated how much the restoration of this depot should cost – approximately 100 million hryvnias. There were three depots of electric trains – about 27 cars – their restoration costs about 300 million hryvnias,” he said.
The official added that serious damage was also recorded at the station. They plan to install a modular station there together with international partners who have joined the restoration. He also noted that there are currently no concrete agreements on financing from foreign donors.
“Due to limited funds, we are forced to separate the objects that we will restore as a priority. At the moment, the first part of the works is underway, which will allow us to use this depot for the maintenance of electric trains. Therefore, we will work on attracting donor assistance for restoration,” Balesta concluded.
