Dynamic Island first appeared on the iPhone 14 Pro and has since become a signature feature of the interface, tightly integrated into iOS.
Apple will reduce the size of Dynamic Island for the first time since 2022 / photo GSMArenaThere is a new portion of rumors about what the screen of the future iPhone 18 Pro will look like. According to the authoritative insider Ice Universe, in this generation, for the first time since 2022, Apple will reduce the size of the Dynamic Island.
According to the leak, the width of this element on the new iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max models will be reduced by about 35% compared to the current generation, shrinking from 20.7 mm to 13.5 mm. As a result, “pros” will also receive a reduced “metal lens” for the Face ID system.
Thus, the very concept of Dynamic Island will be preserved, but the cutout will be visually less distracting and more neatly inscribed in the screen. In the future, Apple should completely remove this cutout and move the camera and Face ID sensors under the screen.
Insider created a mockup with a rough design that reflects this difference.
What the iPhone 18 Pro might look like with a reduced Dynamic IslandPreviously, sources claimed that the iPhone 18 Pro will get an under-display Face ID, and the front camera will be moved to the upper left corner, by analogy with many Android devices. However, the latest insiders do not confirm this information.
Analyst Ross Young, well known for his accurate predictions, says that the scaled-down Dynamic Island will remain in future iPhone generations. This means that Apple bypasses radical solutions for the gradual evolution of the interface before moving to a completely “frameless” screen in future models.
Previously, there were rumors that Apple plans to split the release of the next generation of its flagships, releasing the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max along with the foldable iPhone in September 2026, while other models such as the iPhone 18 and iPhone Air 2 will be delayed until spring 2027.
