Budapest and Bratislava should present their plan for rejection of Russian energy resources.

According to the website of the European Commission, countries that are still importing Russian oil (Hungary and Slovakia), will have to prepare diversification plans to gradually abandon Russian “black gold” by the end of 2027.
With regard to Russian gas, it is proposed to prohibit the import of “blue fuel” from the Russian Federation from January 1, 2026.
“Imports under existing short -term contracts will be stopped by June 17, 2026,” European officials added.
At the same time, a number of members of the European Union (EU) who do not have access to the sea (in particular, Hungary and Slovakia) will make an exception. They will be allowed to buy Russian gas under short -term contracts by the end of 2027.
“Imports on long -term contracts will be stopped by the end of 2027,” the plan stated.
It is noted that this initiative is part of the EU RePowreu Strategy to complete the import of Russian energy: oil, gas and nuclear energy.
EU refusal to Russian gas is the main newsThe European Union has been discussing a full ban on the import of Russian gas for a long time. Hungary and Slovakia oppose such a ban. At the same time, European officials found a roundabout maneuver.
At the same time, Austria urges the EU to think about the restoration of Russian gas imports, in the case of a peace agreement between Kiev and Moscow, which will put an end to the Russian-Ukrainian war.
