At the same time, the head of development of Helldivers 2 does not understand why the soundtrack did not receive any award nominations.
Helldivers 2 composer could throw music / Photo – ArrowheadThe composer of Helldivers 2 admitted that he wanted to drop the orchestral music, but the warm reception of the game’s soundtrack convinced him not to.Helldivers 2 director Johan Pilestedt took to social media to share his surprise that the game’s soundtrack didn’t win any awards. “How the Helldivers 2 soundtrack didn’t win or even be nominated for Best Music is beyond me. I listen to it every day and it still sounds amazing!”
To this, the game’s composer, Will Roger, replied that before the release of Helldivers 2, he was seriously considering stopping writing orchestral music for games. It seemed to him that the players were already tired of it because of the excessive complexity.
However, after the release of the game, Roger was pleasantly surprised by the reaction of players to his work.
“I’ve been blown away by how enthusiastically players have responded to the soundtrack… from music reaction videos to covers and even an entire metal album! I’ve never been so inspired by an audience, and for a traditional orchestral soundtrack, what I thought happened impossible”.
Previously, Helldivers 2 was included in the top 100 best Playstation games of all time, compiled by IGN.
