The publication added that such an incident testifies to the low quality of Chinese military equipment. Journalists recalled how in 2016 another Chinese tank, the Type-96B, broke down during a tank biathlon competition at the Alabino training ground in Russia.
Recall that the VT-4 is part of a family of tanks created on the basis of the Type 90-II prototype. It is powered by a 1200hp VT/E1 12-cylinder engine mated to a Ch1000B automatic transmission.
The combat vehicle is equipped with a 125-mm smoothbore cannon, which can fire not only standard projectiles, but also rockets. In addition, the tank is equipped with 12.7-mm anti-aircraft and 7.62-mm built-in machine guns.
