The list of nominees will be announced later due to the natural disaster.
According to Variety, voting for Oscar nominees began on January 8 and was scheduled to end on January 12. Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences CEO Bill Kramer announced the schedule change in an email to employees. Therefore, if initially the selection tour of international feature films was planned for January 8, now it is planned for the end of this week.
The reason for this was fires. Since most of the jury members live in Los Angeles and due to the disaster, they cannot continue the selection of nominees. The announcement of Oscar nominees was also postponed. It was planned for January 17, but with a change in schedules, it will take place on the 19th.
“We want to express our deepest condolences to those affected by the devastating wildfires in Southern California. Many of our colleagues live and work in the Los Angeles area. We are thinking of you,” the statement said.
According to preliminary data, the ceremony of awarding the winners of the film award will take place on March 2, 2025. In addition, Amazon MGM Studios, Universal Studios, Paramount and Max canceled movie premieres due to the wildfires. The AFI Awards dinner, scheduled for January 10, and the Critics Choice Awards, scheduled for January 12, were also postponed.
We will remind you that we previously wrote that Paris Hilton, Anthony Hopkins, Adam Brody and other stars were left without homes due to a fire in Los Angeles. The fire destroyed their estates and only ruins remained. Hollywood celebrities got in touch and commented on the tragedy, and also answered whether they themselves were affected.
