He appeared on last night’s episode of The Graham Norton Show

Four celebrities, two women and two men, sit on a red sofa during a talk show, with a fruit bowl on the table in front of them.

Johannes starred on the show alongside Hollywood stars, Margot Robbie, Jacob Elordi and Amanda Seyfried However, while appearing on last night’s episode of The Graham Norton Show alongside Hollywood heavyweights Margot Robbie, Amanda Seyfried and Jacob Elordi, the dancer set the record straight.

Host Graham asked: “I’ve gotta ask you while you’re here Johannes, a lot of Strictly fans, myself included, were a bit worried, you were very boo hoo when you said goodbye to Alex Kingston on Strictly, is that the end? Are you not coming back to Strictly?”

He responded: “Was I boo hoo?,” as Graham exclaimed: “Yes, you were sobbing!”

Putting the rumours to rest once and for all, the 38-year-old confirmed: “Graham, I will do that show for as long as they will have me.”

His response prompted a thunderous applause from the audience, clearly happy that the South-African native isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

“It’s a magical, sparkling world, I love it,” he expressed.

Graham also took the opportunity to ask him who the two new hosts of the show are following Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman’s exits.

As he chuckled, Johannes admitted: “Now you know I don’t know,” as actress Amanda encouraged him to make it up on the spot.

Johannes and Alex narrowly missed out on the quarter final of the BBC One show after landing in the bottom two alongside EastEnders star Balvinder Sopal and her dance partner, Julian Caillon.

While speaking to Tess before their last dance, he expressed: “To my Strictly family, I’m forever grateful. Thank you, thank you, thank you.”

Picking up on the moment, one fan said on Reddit: “It really sounds like Johannes doesn’t intend to be back next series currently.”

Another person agreed: “I got the impression too that he was saying goodbye to this chapter of his life.”

Somebody else wrote on X: “#Strictly, so that’s Johannes leaving at the end of the series yeah?

“He looked at ease and that speech seemed like he was laying the way for an announcement in a few weeks? What a sad loss if so. Wonderful man and dancer.”

Yet another commented: “I hope it’s not Johannes’ last year on #Strictly? The way he said to my Strictly family and saying thank you etc. I hope he’s not leaving!”

While a fifth added: “It kinda sounded like Johannes might be leaving the show after hearing the goodbye speech. I really hope not. #Strictly.”

Johannes joined the long-running show back in 2019 and has become a firm favourite with fans over the years.

His celebrity partners have included Catherine Tyldesley, Caroline Quentin, Ellie Taylor and Montell Douglas.

He’s made it to the final on two occasions with John Whaite and Annabel Croft, but has never won the show.

Aside from Strictly, Johannes is gearing up to appear as Lola in the upcoming production of Kinky Boots at the London Coliseum in March 2026.
