Spotify is raising its prices for premium subscribers in the US, Estonia and Latvia.

Starting next month, the price for the paid subscription in the US will rise to $12.99 from $11.99. The last price hike in the US was in July 2024, when the price increased to $11.99.

“Occasional updates to pricing across our markets reflect the value that Spotify delivers, enabling us to continue offering the best possible experience and benefit artists,” the post read.

The move comes amid Spotify’s big push into video, with the platform partnering with Netflix to stream select podcasts on the platform, and making it easier for independent podcast networks to monetize video on the platform, in an effort to bring more creators onto the platform. In that vein, Spotify has also broadened eligibility for its Spotify Partner Program, which provides payouts based on video engagement on Spotify Premium.

As of Spotify’s latest earnings, in Q3, the platform had 281 million paying subscribers worldwide. The company reported an operating profit of €582 million, up 28 percent from the year-ago period, and revenue of €4.27 billion grew 7 percent. But ad-supported revenue declined 6 percent, with executives positioning 2025 “as a transition year” for the ads business, with growth expected to improve in the back half of 2026.

Spotify CEO Daniel Ek has transitioned to the role of executive chairman, as of Jan. 1, 2026. Gustav Söderström, co-president and chief product and technology officer, and Alex Norström, co-president and chief business officer, are now its co-CEOs, reporting to Ek.
