Existing favourites like House of the Dragon will continue to appear on Sky AtlanticCredit: HBO 
But new series, like the upcoming Harry Potter TV show, will be exclusive to HBO MaxCredit: Aidan Monaghan / HBO Max But it’ll mean some changes to how Sky viewers access some of their top rated shows.
Fortunately, no one will miss out on anything once the changes take effect early next year, which isn’t too far away now.
The streaming service that’s finally coming to the UK is HBO Max.
Until now, HBO’s biggest shows have been exclusive to Sky Atlantic, a channel that can only be accessed via Sky or its NOW sister brand.
But with HBO Max on the way to the UK there will be some key differences.
Sky customers will continue to find shows such as House of the Dragon, The White Lotus, and The Last of Us, and any new series aired before the end of 2025, on Sky Atlantic and through Sky’s On Demand service.
However new shows, such as the forthcoming TV series of Harry Potter, will appear on HBO Max exclusively.
Sky will give viewers access to HBO Max at no extra cost, in the same way it does with Netflix.
Ultimately, this should mean access to even more content, it just won’t all appear on Sky Atlantic.
There is also one caveat with the HBO Max at no extra cost – you’ll get the ad-supported plan.
Presumably, there will be ad-free options you can pay more for but we haven’t had any announcements confirming this yet.
HBO hasn’t revealed the exact date we can expect to see HBO Max in the UK.
But we can expect more details in the New Year.
