The Queen of Tejano Music — who died on March 31, 1995, after being fatally shot by Yolanda Saldívar — continues to be celebrated through hits like “Como La Flor,” “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom,” and “No Me Queda Más,” as well as through the countless artists she inspired. In 2025, her story is being introduced to an entirely new generation through the upcoming Netflix documentary Selena y Los Dinos, created in partnership with her family and featuring rare, never-before-seen footage from her life and career.
To mark the passage of three decades, Selena’s family has publicly honored her memory, sharing, “Selena’s light continues to shine through her timeless music, her infectious spirit, and the love she gave to her fans… We honor her today, tomorrow, and always.” Their message came shortly after the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles denied Yolanda’s request for release — a decision supported by Selena’s loved ones, including her husband, Chris Pérez, who continues to speak about how deeply he still feels her presence.
