But it quickly gets awkward for a sporting Freeman when as part of Reynolds’ traditional holiday video he walks into a hospital room to greet young SickKids patients. “What a loser!” one of the Blue Jays jersey-clad kids calls out when a bubbly Freeman introduces himself.
“Trust me, man, we know who you are,” another child adds sarcastically. It seems the SickKids doctors could do little to end the heartbreak young baseball fans still feel after Freeman and his Dodgers beat the Blue Jays to win the 2025 World Series.
“I asked, I asked him in March! What are the odds?” Reynolds says of Freeman following Seth Rogen, Michael Bublé and other Canadians to support his annual fundraising campaign. But what Reynolds and Freeman do with their holiday video is raise awareness and funds for SickKids to help purchase key equipment for the kids hospital.
For the seventh year running, Reynolds is back wearing his Ugly Christmas Sweater to support Toronto’s SickKids Foundation. Despite crushing Blue Jay fans in the World Series, Freeman stepped up to the plate for Toronto and its SickKids hospital.
After braving jeers from the young kids and a hospital nurse, Freeman turns to the camera and declares: “By the way, I love what you guys are doing here.” Viewers are urged to donate before midnight on Christmas Eve to the SickKids Foundation and an anonymous donor will match all donations up to $1 million.
This year’s annual video features SickKids patients Logan, Olivia, Daniel, and Cali, as well as SickKids nurse Nadia, alongside Reynolds and Freeman.
