The Los Angeles-based Jackson recently secured an acquittal for Karen Read for second-degree murder and manslaughter charges during a retrial and also represented Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey in their own sexual assault trials.
As a former assistant head deputy for the major crimes division in the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, Jackson secured a murder conviction for music icon Phil Spector.
Jackson attended a Tuesday hearing before the LA District Attorney, which Nick Reiner did not attend, as Jackson reportedly claimed his client had yet to be medically cleared to make an appearance. The 32-year-old son of the Hollywood director and his wife, Michele, was taken into custody on Sunday and is being held without bail.
The Los Angeles Police Department on Monday claimed Nick Reiner was responsible for the homicide death of his parents. “As a result of the initial investigation, it was determined that the Reiners were the victims of homicide,” the LAPD said in a press release. “The investigation further revealed that Nick Reiner, the 32-year-old son of Robert and Michele Reiner, was responsible for their deaths.”
Iconic filmmaker Rob Reiner, 78, and wife Michele, 70, were found dead in their LA home on Chadbourne Avenue. The couple suffered “lacerations consistent with a knife,” law enforcement sources said TMZ. There was reportedly no sign of forced entry.
Nick Reiner was initially reported as a suspect. He battled drug addiction and homelessness, had more than a dozen stints in rehab and co-wrote a film loosely based on his life, Being Charlie (2015), which was directed by his father.
