It was equipped with a Skyranger 35 installation, writes the Polish portal ZBiAM.

The first public demonstration of the Skyranger 35’s firepower on the Leopard 1 was not very successful. One of the nodes of the control panel failed, but after replacing the block, which took a day, the shooting was still conducted.

To create this sample, Rheinmetall used the chassis from the Leopard 1A5BE. The tower is “unmanned” – two crew members (commander and gunner) are placed in the bow part of the hull. The tower itself holds ammunition for 252 shots, and the effective firing range is 4 kilometers.

A representative of the German defense concern noted that this sample was built to demonstrate that the Skyranger 35 module can be adapted to different types of chassis.

In addition, this anti-aircraft tank was created for the possible needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Rheinmetall expects to order at least 10 such vehicles for the Defense Forces, although this development may be sold to other countries.

Other news of the arms marketOne of the world’s largest arms manufacturers, Northrop Grumman Corporation, will establish ammunition production in Lithuania. Defense Minister Laurinas Kasciunas expects the line to be launched within a year. He noted that the ammunition will be used for infantry fighting vehicles.

Meanwhile, Forbes writes that Ukraine has impressive achievements in the production of artillery and shells for it. Since the beginning of the war, our country has invested in the development of its own domestic capacity for the production of 155-mm artillery shells, since the stocks of the Soviet 152 caliber were quickly exhausted. But ammunition is useless without the guns themselves, so Ukraine is making efforts to reduce its dependence on Western howitzers.
