As the Daily Mail writes, the largest site with names for children, Nameberry, has released its predictions for the main trends for the coming year. Names inspired by ancient civilizations are leading among them.

The names Olympia, Adhara and Marcella are gaining popularity among girls. And among the boys – Ramses, Isidor and Linus.

Nameberry project expert Sophie Kim said that parents who choose names from ancient civilizations want to connect their children with history.

Other popular themes include “showgirl” names like Marilyn, Roxy, and Ophelia, as well as “soulful” performer names like Cypress, Creed, and Shiloh.

And while millennials and Gen Z now make up the bulk of new parents, experts predict that some classic boomer names will make a comeback, including Betsy, Nancy and Judith for girls and Bruce, Monty and Wes for boys.

Nameberry has included a total of 10 trends that will become popular in 2026, the fifth of which is “romantic” names. For girls, these are Calista, Cordelia, and Tamsin, while for boys, names like Alistair, Dashiell, and Toren may grow in popularity.

The next trend is called names with vowel breaks, which means that the name contains more vowels than consonants. Anaya, Aya and Lianni were chosen for the girls, while experts suggested that Eirian, Romeo and Tadeo could be popular next year.

The number of names symbolizing numbers will also increase. Popular names among girls will be Eleven, Una and Sevin. The list of boy names included Amillion, Billion and Octavian.

Another trend is names inspired by anime. Anya, Ryo, and Rumi are becoming popular among girls, while Jinu, Saja, and Kiro are listed as popular among boys.

And it is expected that the trend for names from British literature will grow. Tess, Darcy and Virginia are predicted to be popular among the girls, while Bram, Edmund and Winston stand out among the boys. Moreover, it is possible that these names will become popular outside Great Britain.

More about choosing namesWe remind you that children born from the beginning of 2025 belong to the Beta generation. For them, parents chose names related to the significant events of this year – the solar eclipse and the Paris Olympics.
