She appealed to the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) with a request to help change the rules of the Ukrainian National Selection.
After Suspilne refused the singer to change the criteria for participation in the National Selection, she decided to file an official EBU complaint against the broadcaster. This was announced by Polyakova’s producer on Facebook.
“How was yesterday? Fruitful. They sent letters to the EBU with a request to intervene in the case with Suspilny, with a warning that if the separate rules of the National Selection for “Eurovision” are not changed, then a lawsuit is inevitable. The process can lead to even bigger scandals. We just need to go to an open discussion and find a correct, fair solution,” said Mykhailo Yasynskyi.
We will remind that Olya Polyakova cannot participate in the National Selection, because she performed in Russia after 2014, which is a direct violation of the current rules of the competition. The singer herself stated that these rules are outdated and need to be revised.
However, it is worth noting that Suspilne does not violate EBU rules. Based on them, the broadcaster of each country has the right to set its own selection criteria.
