The sunset “paints” the horizon into a fantastic pink-purple, up to blueberry, color / photo zoyAn incredible shot captured the hearts of social network users – the National Antarctic Scientific Center showed a photo showing a rare natural phenomenon. The photo was made by the biology Zoya fast.
In the photo – the sea leopard floats among the ice floes, and the server seal calmly rests in the snowy “island”. Above all this is a stunning sky in the rich shades of pink, purple and blueberry.
“It is in the winter near Vernadsky that you can often observe a very beautiful multicolored sky. This is due to the fact that the sun does not rise high above the horizon,” experts say.
They explained that from a low light position it is necessary to go a longer way to the surface than when the sun is high above the horizon, so the colors are different. The “short” blue waves are inferior to the “long” red, and with the movement of the sun, the palette changes.
Additionally, the color of the sky is affected by Antarctic clouds, as well as the surface – snow, ice or water that reflect light and enhance the effect.

Experienced polarists say that they have not seen such a giant in the area before. Later, the iceberg giant got the original name – scientists called it “Magura”.
